Police takes over Edo state House of Assembly complex

Officers from the Edo state Police Command this morning took over the Edo state House of Assembly complex. 10 Hilux patrol vans and an armoured tank have been positioned around the complex. This comes six days after 16 members of the state assembly impeached their speaker, Victor Edoro and replaced him with Elizabeth Ativie. Workers at the state assembly have also been denied access into their offices. The state command says the presence of the security officers is to avert any break down of law and order that may arise following the impeachment.
